JOE SCOTTS REPORT,JODY REYNOLDS INDIVIDUALS

Welcome back to the FonaCab Central darts league where after a short postponement the eagerly anticipated Jody Reynolds Individuals was upon us. The Star Celtic club would be the venue in what promised to be another exciting night of darts. Without further ado let’s see how the first night of qualifiers unfolded.

Preliminaries

Board 1

The first match of the night saw Gerard Smith overcome Paddy Dempsey 2-0. Ed McCann disposed of Sean Patterson Jnr 2-0 before Tommy Fitzpatrick inflicted the same defeat on Sean Patterson snr. Martin Mooney eliminated his fellow Hibs man Damien Corbett with a 2-0 win before Jimmy Lavery outbattled Peter McAllorum to claim a 2-1 victory.

Board 2

Board 2 kicked off Joe McAttamney continuing his good form with a 2-0 win over Dan Delaney. McAttamney throwing a 21 and 24 dart in the process. Tony Kelly edged out Eugene Brannigan 2-0 to progress to the next round with Gary Smith following him with a 2-0 win over Sean Armstrong jnr. Paul Wisdom showed his battling qualities overcoming Colm McGuinness. Wisdom battling back against McGuinness’s 14 darter to progress to the next stage. Finally Henry McTasney snr prevailed in a close fought affair against Joe Doone 2-1.

Board 3

Match 1 saw Paul Porter overcoming stern resistance from Pat McGahan to win 2-1. Defending champion Davy McCusker overcame Freddie Steagles to win 2-0 while Paul Fitzpatricks 180 wasn’t enough to prevent his 2-0 defeat at the hands of Ricky Saddler. Paul Thompson combined scoring and finishing to good effect taking care of Alan Hanna in 20 and 21 darts before Stephen Magee showed his intent with a 2-0 win over Aaron McGovern in 16 darts.

Board 4

The final round of prelims kicked off with Ben Lagan showing his class with a 2-0 win over Kieran McGuinness throwing in a 180 along the way. Tom Kearney eliminated his O’Donnells teammate Eddie Robb 2-0 before Peter McDonnell snr prevailed 2-0 against John McCann. Finally Rab “Green”Creen progressed to the next stage with an excellent 2-0 win over Martin Corbett.

With the preliminaries taken care of we were down to the last 32 all vying for a place in the finals night. With the same 501 best of 3 format there would be no hiding places.

Board 1

Board 1 kicked off with Jimmy Lavery progressing with a 2-0 win over Gerard Smith. Ben Lagan continued his good form with a 2-0 win over Paddy McGuinness in 23 and 24 darts. Brendan McStravick prevailed 2-0 against John Quinn before Joe McAttamney booked a well earned place in the next round with a 2-0 win over Paul Porter.

Board 2

Match 1 saw Peter McDonnell snr combine scoring and finishing to good effect taking care of Martin Lawlor in 21 and 19 darts with a lovely 112 finish along the way. Rab Creen continued his good form with a 2-0 win over Peter McDonnell jnr before Ricky Saddler prevailed 2-0 against Tommy Fitzpatrick. Finally Davy McCusker booked his place in the finals night with a 2-0 win over D Armstrong.

Board 3

Match 1 saw Billy McDade edge out Eddie McCann in a 2-1 thriller. Paul Thompson prevailed 2-2 against a battling Gary Smith before Dougie Bowes showed his class with a 2-1 win over Martin Lavery. Bowes weighing in with an 18 darter and a lovely 139 finish along the way. Finally John McLaughlins 180 wasn’t enough as was eliminated by Jim Lynch 2-0.

Board 4

Match 1 saw Stephen Magee show his class with a 2-0 win over Paddy McAlleese. Magee weighing in with a 16 and 24 darter and a 180. Martin Mooney continued his run to the finals night with a 2-0 win over Tony Kelly before Paul Wisdom prevailed 2-1 against Henry McTasney snr. Finally Vinty Lenzie out battled Tom Kearney to prevail 2-1 and book a place in the finals night.

With the first night of qualifiers taken care of 16 have booked their places in the finals night. With only 16 more places up for grabs all eyes will be on the Star Celtic for the second night of qualifiers. Until next week keep practicing and remember to hold your nerve.
