PAT MCGAHANS REPORT ON 1ST ROUND OF DONEGAL CELTIC CUP.

DONEGAL CELTIC CUP.


PRELIMINARY MATCH 1

HIBS 58 5 STAR CELTIC 1

Mark Lynch put 58 1-0 up beating Eamon McGovern but back came Star with Paddy McAleese

beating Paddy Dempsey to make it 1-1, That was as good as it got with 58 reeling of the next four

legs in this one game of 701 format Sean Patterson(34) made it 2-1 beating Rab Lyttle followed by a

man of the match performance from Peter McDonnell snr (32) against Henry McTasney jnr Tucker

Clarke (36) made it 4-1 with a win over Gerard Smith hitting the big 180 along the way and Damien

Corbett(33) wrapped things up beating Henry McTasney snr to make it 5-1.


PRELIMINARY MATCH 2.

CASEMENT 2 CLONARD HIBS 5

Gerry McCormick got Casement of to a good start beating Sean Finnegan but it was 1-1 when Adam

McDade beat Vinty Lenzi Casement went ahead 2-1 when Paul Condon(37) beat John McCann but

Clonard raced away with the match as Kevin Campbell34) beating Henry McCann to make it 2-2 and

it was 3-2 when Anto Smith beat Mickey Tierney This was followed by a man of the match

performance from Conor Hanna (33&55fin) against Sean Kerr and John Doyle finished things of

beating Ciaran McKay to leave the score at 5-2 to Clonard.


Q?F 1. ST MATTHEWS 5 O DONNELLS 3

Paul Wisdom got O Ds of to a great start beating Jimmy Lavery only for Con Kielty to beat Martin

Lawlor to make it 1-1 Man of the match Martin Irwin (32&56fin) made it 2-1 beating Eddie Robb and

Joe McAttamney (35) made it 3-1 with a win over Kevin O Neill It was 4-1 when Jap McKinley (37)

beat Paul Press O Donnells were not done yet and won the next two games thanks to Ricky Saddler

beating an unlucky Micky McCartan and Tucker Kearney winning against Gerard McGuinness In the

next game Billy McDade won a tight one against Tom Kearney to put St Matthews into the semi finals


Q/F 2. CASEYS 5 DONEGAL CELTIC 1

Caseys raced into a 3-0 lead against the host club with Peter Leckey beating Colm McGuinness and

Jim Smith beating Alan Hanna In the next game Matt Boyle (36) hitting 180 along the way in his win

over Sean Armstrong made it 3-0 Back came the DC when Joe Corr (35) beat Eugene Brannigan to

make it 3-1 but Kevin Mallon beat Danny Smith to make it 4-1 and man of the match Seamy Roberts

(35) beat Gary Smith to win the match for Caseys


Q/F 3. HIBS 58 5 FORRESTERS 0

Hibs 58 made short work of this quarter final thanks to Paddy Dempsey beating Kevin Robinson

followed by a good win for Sean Patterson (36) over an unlucky Oliver McMahon Martin Mooney

beat Martin Stafford to make it 3-0 and man of the match Mark Lynch (34) beat Paul Stafford to

make it 4-0 and it was 5-0 and game over when Damien Corbett beat Andy Gray


Q/F 4. CRUMLIN STAR 3 CLONARD HIBS 5

This was a good game the whole way through and Dougie Bowes (33) put the Star 1-0 up with a win

over Anto Smith only for Sean Paul Grant to beat Paul Porter and make it 1-1 Kevin Campbell(36) put

Clonard 2-1 up with a win over Peter Fitzpatrick and John McCann hit a good 82 finish in beating

Jamesy Porter to make it 3-1 John Doyle (33) made it 4-1 with a win against Seamy Martin but Paul

Thompson beat Conor Hanna with Paul hitting a 180 and in the next game man of the match Ben

Lagan with a cracking 24 darter which also included the big 180 in a good win over Adam McDade to ​

make it 4-3 In the next game Dan Sloan squeezed past Freddie Stilgees to put Clobard into the last

four

So its down to the semi finals and final next week in the Donegal Celtic rooms It is a 9 0 Clock start

and in the last four are St Matthews Caseys Hibs 58 & Clonard Hibs Good Luck to all
