HIBS 58 WIN DONEGAL CELTIC CUP IN THRILLER.
This week saw the two semi finals and the final of the Donegal Celtic Cup in the Donegal Celtic club
on the Suffolk road and the four teams on show were Hibs 58 Clonard Hibs St Matthews and Caseys.
SEMI FINAL 1. HIBS 58 5 CLONARD HIBS 3.
This was a great contest with both teams throwing well and Hibs 58 went 1-0 up with Martin
Corbett(100/100/100/95/100) beat Anto Smith but it was soon 1-1 when Sean Paul Grant (32) beat
Damien Corbett This time Clonard went ahead 2-1 when man of the match Conor
Hanna(85/137/140/85) threw a super 24 darter with a 90 finish to beat Tucker Clarke Martin Mooney
(31 darts 100/100/97/100) beat Pearce Maguire to make it 2-2 Up next Marl Lynch(28) put 58 3-2 in
front hitting 180 along the way in his win over Adam McDade but it was 3-3 when John McCann beat
Tony Corr Hibs 58 went 4-3 up with Peter McDonnell beating Dan Delaney and Davy McCusker (25)
including scores of 140/81/125/100 and 95 beat Kevin Campbell to put 58 into the final.
SEMI FINAL 2. CASEYS 0 ST MATTHEWS 5.
This turned out to be a one sided affair with St Matthews going through to the final with some steady
darts First up saw Jimmy Lavery win a tight game against Gerry McIlduff and it was 2-0 when Martin
Irwin (35) beat Jim Smith and man of the match Billy McDade (28)with scores of 100/95/85/95and
99 beating Steven Lecky (180) to make it 3-0 Up next John Considine (37) beat Liam McMenamin to
make it 4-0 and Micky McCartan (34)85/100/100/87 wrapped things up for St Matthews.
FINAL ST MATTHEWS 4 HIBS 58 5.
This was a thriller from start to finish Joe McAttamney (29) 85/100/140/99 put St Matthews 1-0 up
beating Tony Corr only for Martin Mooney (27) 81/100/140 to level at 1-1 with a win over Jap
McKinley Con Kielty (35) beat an unlucky Mark Lynch to put St Matthews 2-1 up and in the next game
Billy McDade made it 3-1 when Damien Corbett spurned a lot of chances at his doubles In the next
game Martin Irwin(33) 85/140 85/140 beat Sean Patterson to make it 4-1 with the finishing line in
sight but 58 were not done yet with Davy McCusker 100/180/130 beating John Considine and that
was followed by a marvellous man of the match performance from Peter McDonnell who hit a 21
darter (95/95/174/95/95 to beat Gerard McGuinness and its now 4-3 Martin Corbett (35) then beat
Jimmy Lavery and its 4-4 and down to the last game The crowd were on tender hooks as Micky
McCartan and Tucker Clarke stepped up to the oche and it was Tucker that hit double six with Micky
sitting on double top to pull off an incredible comeback for 58
