CLONARD HIBS WIN EDDIE CORBETT CUP

The Crumlin Star rooms were packed for the semi finals and final of the Eddie Corbett Cup

The draw paired Casement against St Matthews and Clonard Hibs against Star Celtic

CASEMENT 4 ST MATTHEWS 5

This one went to the wire with some cracking games

Con Kelty put St Matthews 1 0 up beating Paul Condon who had a few missed doubles

Joe Doone (180/100/100) beating Mickey McCartan (140/96/140/96) in 30 darts levelled at 1 1

It was 2 1 when Gerry McCormick beat the returning Pat McGahan and Casement made it 3 1 with Ciaran McKay beating Jap Mc Kinley and Ricky Saddler (29 darts 96/97/99/136) soon made it 4 1 with his win over Dessie Magee

St Matthews weren't done yet It was 4 2 when man of the match Joe McAttamney (29 darts 95/85/121/100&60 finish) beat Pat Mc Guinness

Joe O Kane made it 3 2 when he beat Sean Kerr and the match went to the final game when Billy McDade made it 4 4 with a really scrappy win over Vinty Lenzi with both players having a lot of missed doubles

In the last game Martin Irwin (30d 81/85/95/81)beat an out of sorts Ciaran McGuinness to complete a great turn around and put St Matthews in the final

CLONARD HIBS 5

STAR CELTIC 1

This wasn't as one sided as the score may suggest with a lot of the games giving both throwers shots at doubles

Sean Paul Grant (121/85/81/85) beat Gerard Smith (95/79/114) to make it 1 0 and Conor Hanna made it 2 0 beating Ian Haywood in a scrappy game and it was soon 3 0 thanks to man of the match Dan Delaney (34 darts 100/85/95/140/82) beating an unlucky Eamon McGovern (83/117/95/114)

Aaron McGovern(35 darts 82/95/121) pulled one back for the Star beating John Mc Cann to make it 3 1

Pearse Maguire (85/85/100/100) beat Rab Lyttle (85/94/80/100) to make it 4 1 and Anto Smith beat an unlucky Martin Maloney to put Hibs in the final

FINAL

CLONARD HIBS 5

ST MATTHEWS 3

Pat McGahan (140/84/81) beat an unlucky Tommy Fitzpatrick (95/83/100/100) to put St Matthews 1 0 up

It was 1 1 when Conor Hanna (83/81/133) finished strongly to beat Joe McAttamney (100/100/100/91)

Dan Delaney(83/100/140) put Hibs 2 1 up beating Con Kelty (83/81/85) only for Martin Irwin (25 darts 137/85/100/100/99) to put in a man of the match performance in over coming a gallant John Doyle (95/98/100) to level matters at 2 2

Hibs went 3 2 up thanks to Dan Sloan (32 darts 85/140/85/121) who beat Jap Mc Kinley (81/83/100)

It was 4 2 Hibs when John Mc Cann won a tight game against Joe O Kane

Mickey McCartan (30 darts 85/81/140/140) then won a great game against Pearse Maguire (96/85/125/125/70) to keep St Matthews in the match

In the next game Sean Paul Grant started off with a 180 & 125 in a 33 darter to beat an under par Dessie Magee and win the cup for Clonard Hibs
