The League was put on hold for the next few weeks to enable teams to compete in the Prestigious Henry McIlhome Cup. The draw produced some cracking looking ties...The St. Mathews hosts drew Crumlin Star, Casement were to play Hibs 58, Star Celtic had to face Donegal Celtic and Clonard Hibs faced off against The Swilly.
Crumlin Star 3 vs 5 St. Mathews
The home team started off like they meant business and cruised into a 0 vs 3 lead with wins coming from Billy McDade 140, 100, 85, 60, 60 over Fra Glennon 99, 95, 95, 70 Davy McCusker (28) 140, 121, 85, 83, 60 over Hugh Grieves 121, 100, 79, 60 and Mick McCartan 100, 100, 60, 60, over Dougie Bowes 85, 83, 60, 60. Crumlin Star fought back well and took the next two games themselves through John Dillon 100, 85, 81, 81, 60 who beat Jimmy Lavery 85, 83, 83, 83, 80 and Tommy Henry 100, 100, 85, 82 who just about got the better of an unlucky Gerard McGuinness who hit cracking scores of 135, 125, 100, 85, 60 but struggled to hit that all important final double to bring the score back to 2 vs 3. Martin Irwin (26) 125, 100, 85, 85, 85, 80 steadied the ship for St. Mathews when he took the next leg, over Crumlin’s Peter Fitzpatrick 95, 85, 85, 85 taking it to 2 vs 4. Ben Lagan 125, 85, 85, 85 kept his team in a with a shout and brought it back to 3 vs 5 when he defeated John Considine 81, 81, 80, 60 but it was not to be their night as Jap McKinley 95, 85, 85, 81 took the eighth leg against Freddie Stilges 85, 85, 83, 79 to put his team into the semi-finals next week.

Star Celtic 5 vs 3 Donegal Celtic
Donegal Celtic started off this quarter-final in great fashion with two wins on the bounce from Harry Smith 125, 78, 60, 60, & Gary Smith 100, 100, 85, 60 over Gary Healy 63, 62, 60, 60 and Tony Kelly 100, 85, 81, 68. Star Celtic however then hit a purple patch and never gave their Suffolk opponents another sniff. They took the next 5 in a row with great wins from Henry McTasney Jnr 80, 79, 76, 75, 75 over Paul Doonan 92, 85, 85, 85, 60 Daniel Haywood (25) 140, 114, 100, 85, 85, 80 over Joe Corr 100, 85, 81,60 Henry McTasney Snr 100, 85, 85, 80, 65, 60 against Matt Doone 85, 78, 60, 60 Rab Lyttle 100, 60, 60, 60 over Junior McManus and finally Ian Haywood 125, 81, 60, 60, 60 made it a family double and a great win for Star Celtic when he took out Caolan Kierney 81, 80, 66, 65, 61, 60 to leave the result 5 vs 2

Clonard Hibs 5 vs 3 The Swilly
This match swung firstly one way then the other and Swilly showed no fear or respect for the current league leaders giving them a great run for their money before eventually losing out. Clonard started off in great fashion with two great wins from Anto Smith 100, 85, 85, 85,85 over Mickey Burns 97, 81, 81, 81, 78 and Dan Delaney 100, 100, 80, & 105 finish over Mick Sullivan. The Swilly hit back with two great wins of their own coming from Eamon McGovern (33) 180 85, 85, 67 fin 60 and Paul Goodman (32) 100, 100, 100, 85 over Pearse Maguire & Hugh McShane 140, 100, 100, 81. Dan Sloan 121, 121, 100 stopped Swilly’s charge with a win in the 5th leg over Brendan McStravick 140, 100 only for Patrick McGeown (30) 100, 100, 100, 60 to level it at 3 vs 3 by beating Conor Hanna 125, 96, 85, 60. Adam McDade (28) 125, 97, 96, 95, stepped up to the plate for his team and produced great darts to beat Tom Kearney 133, 95, 95, 60 and then John Doyle 99, 85, 84, 60, 60 finally got his team over the winning line by beating Tom’s son Tucker in the penultimate leg to put Clonard through to next weeks event.

Hibs 58 1 vs 5 Casement
These two teams know each other very well and a great tussle was anticipated when the draw was made. However this result was as one sided as you can really get. Paul Condon 121, 100, 85, 76, 68, 65 started the ball rolling for Casement in beating Joe Dinnen 121, 94, 60, 60, 60 in the first game. Martin Corbett (23) 180, 140, 125, 100, 60 missed darts at 36 for an 18 darter in a game of 701 which was unbelievable against Gerry McCormick, who himself had scores of 100, 81, 81, 60, 60, 60, 60 to level the game at 1 vs 1. Vinty Lenzi 100, 85, 81, 81 made it 2 vs 1 in beating Sean Patterson. Kieran McGuinness 121, 95, 70, 60 made it 1 vs 3 in beating an unlucky Tony Corr 100, 100, 95, 85, 79, 66. Henry McCann 98, 81, 80, 78, 70, 60, 60 put his team on the verge of victory when he took out Damien Corbett 140, 121, 83, 60, 60 and he didn’t have to wait to long as his teammate Ricky Saddler 136, 99, 95 took the 6th leg against young Adam Lynch 100, 65, 60, 60 to put Casement easily through to next weeks play-offs.
