Clonard Hibs win again and are now one more league match from Undefeated League campaign
Clonard Hibs 7 vs 1 star Celtic
Clonard Hibs destroyed Star Celtic in this league fixture to move to within one more league game from an undefeated campaign which will be an unbelievable feat given how tight the matches have been all season. John McCann 2-0 (28 & 29) 95, 95, 60, 60, 60, 60 started the ball rolling in the first leg by beating Henry McTasney Snr. John Doyle 2-0 (25 & 26) did likewise, hitting scores of 140, 100, 85, 85, 60, 60 in his win over Martin Maloney 100, 100, 100, 100, 83 to leave it at 2 vs 0. Pearse Maguire 2-0 (16 & 23) 140, 121, 85, 85, 84, 83 made it 6 legs without reply for the home team when he took out Ian Haywood 140, 85, 85, 83, 81. Adam McDade 2-0 (14 & 22) 180 140, 140, 92, 85, 85 was the last player Star’s Daniel Haywood wanted to see at the oche in this kind of form and left it 4 vs 0. The Ardoyne team got a leg on the board in the fifth game courtesy of Rab Lyttle (18) but Hugh McShane still did enough in the other two to win the game and make it 5 vs 0. Gary Healy 2-0 100, 83, 60, 60, 60 showed his colleagues how it’s done beating Richard Mervyn 100, 85, 81, 81, 60, 60 to finally put a win on the scoreboard for the visitors at 5 vs 1. Dan Sloan 2-0 (21 & 30) 140, 126, 125, 96 + 72 fin played out of his skin to defeat Danny Anderson 100, 60, 60 to make it 6 vs 1 and finally Conor Hanna 2-0 (20 & 26) 140, 117, 98, 96, 95 put Star out of their misery with his usual great performance against Tony Kelly 100, 60, 60.

Donegal Celtic 4 vs 4 St. Mathews
This was a fantastic advertisement for our league with first one then the other taking charge of the game right till the last game on the match card. Davy Smith 2-1 81, 81, 80, 60, 60, 60 took the first game against Mick McCartan 100, 85, 84, 75, 70 to put D/C in front. Martin Irwin 2-0 100, 100, 95, 81, 81, 80, 80, 70 levelled it up taking out Harry Smyth 81, 80, 71, 60. Gerard McGuinness 2-0 100, 98, 97, 95, 84 put the Short Strand team in front at 1 vs 2 when he defeated Joe Corr 85, 82, 81, 70, 66, 60. Gary Smith 2-0 118, 97, 85, 85, 81, levelled it again at 2 vs 2 with another great league win over Jimmy Lavery 85, 81, 72, 70, 60. John Considine 2-0 (23) 100, 100, 85, 85, 85, 81 again put the visitors back in front at 2 vs 3 beating Paul Doonan only to watch Sean Armstrong 2-1 (26) 121, 100, 95, 82, 76, 75, 70, 60 take a tight win over his captain Pat McGahan 140, 125, 99, 85, 81, 80, 76 to again pull D/C back to 3 vs 3. If the league was running a “Player of the Month” award the next player up for D/C would be high on that list. Matt Doone 2-0 (23 & 29) 134, 92, 85, 83, 83, 81, 72 has been excellent over recent weeks and months and he obliged again by taking the seventh game against Billy McDade 92, 90, 85, 81, 77, 69. 60 to edge his team towards a famous victory at 4 vs 3. Con Kielty 2-0 (26 & 28) 121, 100, 97, 92, 81, 81, 60 however had other ideas and his experience and guile showed with a great win over Caolan Kearney 121, 87, 76, 60 to leave it a fair 4 vs 4 result.

Crumlin Star 5 vs 3 The Swilly
Beating two league winning teams back to back to win a cup last week gets you nowhere and no respect in this league. The Swilly must have thought it was back to business when Patrick McGeown 2-0 (28 & 28) 140, 100, 100, 100, 82, 60 took the first game against Jim Flannigan 117, 97, 93, 63, 57, 57. But they were given quite a bashing for the next 5 games in a row with Star just dropping one leg in that period out of eight. John Dillon 2-0 (21 & 28) 100, 100, 100, 92, 81, 60, 60 beat Mick Sullivan. Freddie Stilges 2-0 139, 85, 83, 78, 70, 60 took out Felix McGeown. Fra “Big Note” Glennon 2-0 (30) + 80 fin 117, 95, 87, 77, 66, 62, 57 beat Tom Kearney 97, 81, 81, 77, 62, 60, 60. Tommy Henry 2-1 (28 & 33) 140, 125, 85, 81, 66, 60, 60, 59 just about got by Eamon McVeigh (29) 121, 100, 95, 85, 83, 70, 63, 60, 60, 59 and Ben Lagan 2-0 (30) 142, 85, 83, 60, 60, 60, 60 defeated Tucker Kearney 134, 82, 73, 67, 60 leaving it at 5 vs 1 and the points to the North Belfast outfit. Swilly did restore some pride in taking the last two games through Paul Goodman 2-0 (27) 100, 100, 81, 60, 60, 60 against Peter Fitzpatrick 85, 76, 70, 60, 60, 60, 57 and Kevin O’Neill 2-1 (24) 135, 120, 118, 100, 100, 83, 70, 66 + 92 fin against Peter McAlorum (31) 140, 100, 95, 82, 81, 81, 66, 60, 60 to leave the final score 5 vs 3.

Casey’s 1 vs 7 Casement
This was one Derby match that Casey’s will not want to revisit in a hurry as the scoreline genuinely didn’t reflect their efforts. To be fair they did lose the first three games on last legs encounters. Joe Doone 2-1 121, 100, 97, 85, 81 won a tight first game against Olcan Kearney (23) 116, 100, 100, 85, 85, 66, 60 It was the same in the next game as Ricky Saddler 2-1 (21 & 25) 139, 97, 95, 95, 95, 95, 95, 85, 82, 79, 70, 70, 67 threw amazing darts but only just got over the line against Casey’s Paul Smith (34) 125, 100, 100, 100, 81, 74, 60, 60, 60 0 vs 2. Chopper McKay 2-1 (23 & 26) 100, 100, 95, 95, 85, 82, 81, 81, 67 made it three in a row where it had went to the deciding leg when he defeated Stephen Leckey (30) 100, 100, 85, 82, 81, 80, 65, 60, 60, 60 0 vs 3. Paul Condon 2-0 (20 & 27) 180 140, 132, 100, 93, 85, 60, 60 gives away no legs easily and he made it 0 vs 4 with an excellent win over Eugene Brannigan 100, 100, 85, 81, 81, 74, 68. Gerry McIlduff (31) 115, 93, 81, 71, 69, 67, 59, 59 took the first leg of his game against Paddy McGuinness (26) but could do nothing in the next two legs as his opponent hit scores of 123, 100, 100, 85, 85, 81, 81, 60, 60, 60 to make sure of both points at 0 vs 5. The next game was one for the purists with arguably the most consistent player over the last 30 maybe 40 years in our league Gerry McCormick up against one of the new breed of dynamic throwers Dan Cahoon. Dan took the first leg in 24 darts with scores of 140, 85, 79, 62, 60, 60 against Gerry’s 100, 64, 60, 60, 60, 60. Gerry used all his experience to take the next two legs however with scores of 125, 85, 85, 85, 62, 60, 60, 60, 60, 60, 60 against Dan’s scores of 125, 101, 85, 81, 80, 75, 59, 59 to leave the score 0 vs 6. Gerard Holmes 2-1 (18 + 73 fin & 30) had to play very well and he hit cracking scores of 100, 100, 100, 100, 100, 98, 81, 60, 60 to just about get the better of a rejuvenated Martin Lawlor 100, 100, 100, 99, 60, 60, 60, 60 and get a game on the score card at 1 vs 6. The last match was won by young Colm McGuinness 2-0 (22 & 24) 180 123, 83, 80, 80, 74, 60, 60 over Colly McPeake o leave the final score a rather flattering 1 vs 7 result but a cracking contest.
MOM: Colm McGuinness
