CRUMLIN STAR WIN LOCAL DERBY.


STAR CELTIC 1 CRUMLIN STAR 7.

Crumlin Star raced into a 4-0 lead as Robert Creen beat Henry McTasney jnr 2-0 which included a

great 17 darter and James Porter beat Stephen Curley 2-0 also . Next up was Peter Fitzpatrick who

beat Hugh Grieve 2-1 and then Tommy Henry beat Henry McTasney snr 2-1 to make it a 4-0

scoreline .Gerard Smith stopped the rot with a good 2-0 win over Paul Porter Seamy Martin(20)

made it 5-1 with a hard fought 2-1 win over Gerard Burns and man of the match Dougie Bowes

(26&22) made it 6-1 winning 2-0 against Rab Lyttle and Ben Lagan (20) wrapped things up with a 2-1

win over Tony Kelly(23)


O DONNELLS 2 HIBS 58 6.

Peter McDonnell snr (26&27) put 58 1-0 up with a tight 2-1 win over Ricky Saddler (23) and it was

then 2-0 when Martin Corbett (21) beat Paul Press (24) 2-1. James McStravick (20) pulled one back

with a 2-0 win over Damien Corbett to make it 3-1.and next up Tony Corr beat Martin Lawlor 2-0 to

make it 3-1 to 58 .Back came ODs thanks to Brendan McStravick winning 2-0 against Paddy Dempsey

to make it 3-2 but Tucker Clarke (20&24) soon made it 4-2 in a 2-0 win over Tucker Kearney ,Mark

Lynch made the points secure with a 2-0 win over Tom Kearney and man of the match Davy

McCusker (24&20) made it 6-2 with a 2-0 win over Kevin O Neill


CASEMENT 5 FORRESTERS 3.

Caoimhin Burns (28&28) got the away team of to a great start with a 2-0 win over Micky Tierney but

soon it was 1-1 with Henry McCann (25beating Sean McCurdy 2-1 in a tight game. Gerry McCormick

(22&26) came from 1-0 down to beat Michael Burns (26) 2-1 and put the home side 2-1 up. Back

came the Forresters thanks to a 2-0 win for Sean Fitzpatrick (26&29) over Joe Doone to make it 2-

2Casement went 3-2 up thanks to a 2-0 win for Ciaran McKay (21&30) over Paul Stafford but once

again the match was level at 3-3 when Oliver McMahon (21&27) beat Kieran McGuinness. The next

game saw Paul Condon(17&24) produce a man of the match performance in a 2-1 win over Andy

Gray and in the final game Vinty Lenzi (25&27) beat Martin Stafford 2-1 to clinch the points for

Casement


ST MATTHEWS 4 DONEGAL CELTIC 4.

Jimmy Lavery (27) put the home side 1-0 up with a 2-1 win over Colm McGuinness and in the next

game it was man of the match Martin Irwin (24&25) who beat an unlucky Paddy McGuinness (20) 2-

1 to put the home side 2-0 up. DC were having none of it and went 3-2 in front thanks to Matt Doone

(26&26) beating John Considine 2-1 and then Sean Armstrong winning 2-1 against Jap McKinley

followed by Gary Smith (26) beating Joe O Kane (24) 2-1. St Matthews levelled at 3-3 thanks to a 2-0

win for Billy McDade over Harry Smith. The DC went in front again with a 2-0 win for Patrick

McGeown who hit the big 180 against Joe McAttamney to make it 4-3 and in the last game Con Kielty

(27&21) won a hard tussle to beat Kevin O Carroll 2-1 and level the match at 4-4


CLONARD HIBS 6 CASEYS 2.

Unfortunately no match card was received and I didn’t get any details bar the result

HIBS 58 WIN SPARROW MCLAUGHLIN CUP.


SEMI FINAL 1. CASEMENT 0 CLONARD HIBS 5

Casement didn’t do much wrong, but Clonard Hibs were just too good on the night. In the first game

of this 701 one game format Sean Paul Grant (33) beat Vinty Lenzi and Adam Mc Dade (28) beat

Henry McCann to make it 2 - 0. The next game saw a man of the match performance from young

Conor Toner (24) darts which had a great 114 checkout against Paul Condon to make it 3 - 0 .John

Doyle (32) made it 4 - 0 beating Michael Tierney and Pearce Maguire (36) beat Sean Kerr to send

Clonard into the final.


SEMI FINAL 2.  ST MATTHEWS 3 HIBS 58 5

This was a game of missed opportunities for St Matthews who had their chances but Hibs 58 did

what mattered and hit their doubles to win the match, The first game saw Joe O Kane spurn a lot of

chances and Damien Corbett stepped in to make it 1 - 0 .In the next game Jimmy Lavery (28) beat

Tucker Clarke in a tight game to make it 1 - 1 Martin Mooney made it 2 - 1 beating Micky McCartan

and it was 3 - 1 to 58 when Mark Lynch beat Billy Mc Dade who also spurned chances.Up next saw

Sean Patterson beat Jap McKinley to make it 4 - 1 but St Matthews weren’t done yet and Martin Irwin

(29) won a tight game with Martin Corbett to make it 4 - 2 and Gerard McGuinness beat Peter

McDonnell jnr to make it 4 - 3.Peter Mc Donnell snr (27) then stepped in w i th a man of the match

showing to beat John Considine and put 58 into the final.


THE FINAL.  HIBS 58 5 CLONARD HIBS 3

This turned out to be a final of two halves between these two old foes. First up saw Adam McDade

(31) 95,133,137 beat Sean Patterson and next up it was Kevin Campbell 100,100 to beat the unlucky

Tony Corr who hit the big 180 and make it 2 - 0. It was soon 3 - 0 when Conor Toner (33) beat Peter

McDo nnell snr but back came 58 with Tucker Clarke (28) 140,100,140,100 beating Pearce Maguire to

make it 3 - 1. It was then 3 - 2 when Martin Corbett (37) 100,137,120 and missing double 8 for a 136

finish beat Anto Smyth. The next game was the game of the final with man of the match Mark Lynch

(27) 100,100,137 bea ting a gallant Conor Hanna 96,100,140 to level the game at 3 - 3.The g ame was

now swinging towards 58 and they were in front for the first time in the final when Damien Corbett

beat John McCann to make it 4 - 3 and in the next game it was an down to the Hibs 58 reserve Paddy

Dempsey to be the surprise hero when he edged out Se an Paul Grant and win the cup for 58

Congratulations to Hibs 58 and commiserations to Clonard,St Matthews and Casement

I must give a special mention to the McLaughglin family for their generosity which included drinks

for all four teams and a lovely spread put on also and also thank Hibs for their sponsorship and use

of their rooms and a donation of over 240 pounds for charity collected during the competition I must

say this was a great advertisement for darts and the Fonacab Central Dart League. Thanks to

everyone who made it possible..

CONGRATULATIONS TO CAPTAIN TONY CORR AND THE HIBS 58 TEAM ON WINNING THE SPARROW MCLAUGHLIN CUP. THEY CONTINUED ON THEIR POWERFUL WINNING SEASON BY DEFEATING CLONARD HIBS IN A VERY CLOSE FINAL, UNLUCKY CLONARD HIBS, WELL DONE HIBS 58.  ALSO A VERY SPECIAL MENTION FOR THE FAMILY OF SPARROW, WHO WERE IN ATTENDANCE ON THE FINALS NIGHT, AND PROVIDED A SUPERB BUFFET,  THE COMMITTEE WOULD LIKE TO PASS ON THEIR GRATITUDE FOR THIS AND IT WAS GREATLY ENJOYED AND APPRECIATED BY ALL THE PLAYERS.

THE SPARROW MCLAUGHLIN CUP

This week saw the qualifying matches in the Sparrow McLaughlin cup

PRELIMINARY MATCH 1 O Donnells 0 Hibs 58 5

This was an easy victory for Hibs 58 as they whitewashed the O Ds. In the first game Peter Mc

Donnell snr beat Kevin O Neill and was soon followed by man of the match Tucker Clarke (29&94

finish) to beat James McStravick .Damien Corbett then beat Ricky Saddler followed by Mark Lynch

beating Martin Lawlor and Sean Patterson wrapped things up with a win over Paul Press

PRELIMINARY MATCH 2 STAR CELTIC 2 CASEMENT 5

This was a tight match and Rab Lyttle got the Star of to a 1-0 lead beating Pat Burns but it was soon

1-1 when Henry McCann beat an unlucky Aaron McGovern. Next up Chopper McKay beat Eamon

McGovern and was followed by man of the match Gerry McCormick winning against Gerard Burns to

make it 3-1 and soon it was 4-1 when Micky Tierney beat Stephen Curly. Henry McTasney jnr kept the

Star in it with a win over Joe Doone but Paul Condon stepped up to win the match for Casement

beating Henry McTasney snr

Q/FINAL 1 FORRESTERS 0 HIBS 58 5

Another one sided match with 58 running out 5-0 winners with Peter McDonnell jnr beating

Caomhin Burns and it was 2-0 when Mark Lynch beat Ray Lavery.Tony Corr (32) beat Paul Stafford

and man of the match Peter McDonnell snr (28) beat Oliver McMahion to make it 4-0 and again Sean

Patterson wrapped things up for 58 with a win over Sean McCurdy

Q/Final 2 CASEYS 0 ST MATTHEWS 5

Another match that finished 5-0 on the night with St Matthews racing away with a 5-0 win over

Caseys Man of the match Martin Irwin (29) got things rolling beating Liam McMenamin and it was 2-

0 when Joe McAttamney beat Orcan Kearney and Mickey McCartan(32) made it 3-0 with a win over

Steven Lecky and Jap McKinley beat Gerry McIlduff to make it 4-0 and Joe O Kane wrapped things up

beating Kevin Mallon

Q/Final 3 CRUMLIN STAR 0 CASEMENT 5

Incredibly another 5-0 scoreline on the night with Casement throwing great darts to register a 5-0

win over Crumlin Star. Getting Casement of was Gerry McCormick beating Robert Creen and Pail

Condon then beat Fra Glennon to make it 2-0.Micky Tierney then beat Dougie Bowes to make it 3-0

and was followed by man of the match Henry McCann (34) beating Peter Fitzpatrick to make it 4-0

and it was soon all over when Vinty Lenzi beat Freddie Stilgees to make it 5-0

Q/Final 4 CLONARD HIBS 5 DONEGAL CELTIC 3

This was the match of the night with cracking darts from both sides .The first game was the game of

the night with Paddy McGuinness producing a man of the match performance hitting a super 21

darter which included the big 180 and a 122 bull finish to beat John McCann and it was soon 2-0

when Patrick McGeown beat Anto Smith and the DC went 3-0 up when Gary Smith (29) beat Dan

Delaney but back came Clonard with Kevin Campbell (33) beating Colm McGuinness and Conor

Hanna then beat Joe Corr to make it 3-2 . The game was level at 3-3 when Adam McDade beat Alan

Hanna. The next game saw Clonard edge in front thanks to Sean Paul Grant beating Kevin O Carroll

and John Doyle then put Clonard Hibs into the saemi finals with a hard fought win over Dee Ireland​

This week will be the semi finals and final of the Sparrow McLaughlin cup in the Hibs club with a 9 o

clock start

ST.MATTHEWS WIN AGAINST A GALLANT CASEYS.

CASEYS 2  ST MATTHEWS  6.

Caseys captain Matt Boyle (22&23) beat Con Kielty(21) to move them 1 - 0 ahead, but it was soon 1-1 when Martin Irwin won a close game over Seamy Roberts 2-1.  Next up saw Joe O'Kane put in a man of the match perfomance with a brace of 22 darters to beat Dan Cahoon 2-1 in legs, and put St.Matthews 2-1 ahead, but again it was level when Steven Leckey edged past Jim Lavery 2-1.  The next game saw Jap McKinley(24&27) beat Butch Mallon (23) to make it 2-2, and it was soon 4-2 when Joe McAttamney (22&23) beat a gallant Eugene Brannigan2-0. John Considine secured with a 2-0 win over Liam McMenamin, and Billy McDade (26&29) beatb Gerard Holmes 2-0 to make it 6-2 to St.Matthews, which was alittle harshon the home side, but that's darts.

HIBS 58  6  CASEMENT  2.

58 continued their 100% record with a great win over a battling Casement side.  Tucker Clarke(23&24) beat Kieran McGuinness 2-0, and mark Lynch made it 2-0 wit a 2-0 win over Michael Tierney, which included a great 15 darter. The next game saw Joe Doon beat Damien Corbett 2-1 to pull one back for Casement, only for Sean Patterson (24&22) to step up with a 2-0 win over Henry McCann and put 58 3-1 up. Martin Mooney (21&22) the made it 4-1 wit a 2-0 win over Vinty Lenzi. The next game was the game of the match wit Paul Condon putting in a man of the match perfomance (18&22) which included a big 180 to beat previously unbeaten Peter McDonnell Snr, who hit  an 18 darter of his own, and keep Casement in the match. That was as good as it got because Martin Corbett (20& 26) beat Chopper McKay 2-0 and Davy McCusker (22&19) also hitting 180 to beat Gerry McCormick 2-0 to leave the final score 6-2.

FORESTERS  1  CLONARD  7.

Clonard raced into a 4-0 lead thanks to a 2-0 win for SeanPaul Grant over Michael Burns, and then a 2-0 win for John McCann(22&30) over Sean McCurdy.  John Doyle the won 2-1 over Paul Stafford, and Conor hanna beat Andy Grey 2-0. The next game saw a man of the match perfomance fro Olicer McMahon Jnr (23&29) over a previously unbeaten Adam McDade 2-0 to make it 4-1.  Up next Anto Smyth beat Gerard Callaghan 2-1 whic included a 112 finish from Anto, and the last 2 games were 2-0 wins for Pearse Maguire over Caoimhin Burns, and Kevin Campbell Over Ray Lavery to leave the final score 7-1 to Clonard Hibs.

DONEGAL CELTIC  6  STAR CELTIC  2.

DC got off to a  flyer with four 2-0 wins to go 4-0 up. The first game saw Gary Smyth (26&17) beat Gerard Burns and the Colm McGuinness (29&21) beat Paddy McAleese, then Pat McGuinness (27&23) beat Gerard Smyth. Next up was man of the match Patrick McGeown (22&18 beat Eamon Mcgovern. In the next game Hugh Grieve(19&27) stopped the rot with a 2-1 win over Alan Hanna, only for Joe Corr to step up and claim the points for DC wit a 2-0 win over henry Mctasney Jnr. In the next leg Rab Lyttle beat Matt Doon 2-1 whic included a great 117 finish from Rab, and in the last legSean Armstrong beat Stephen Curley 2-1 to leave the final score 6-2 to the DC.

CRUMLIN STAR  5  O'DONNELLS 3.

Tommy Henry (19&25) got the star off to a good start with a 2-0 win over Tom Kearney, and it was soon followed by a 2-0 win for Ben Lagan(28&21) over John Quinn. The next game saw Robert Crean recieve a bye to make it 3-0. The O'Ds pulled one back thanks to Brendan McStravick (29&26) in a 2-0 win over Seamus Martin, and it was soon 3-2 when Ricky Saddler (22&23) beat Freddie Steegles 2-0. This was followed by a great win for Paul Wisdom to vel the match 3-3 wit a 2-0 win over James Porter.  Peter Fitzpatrick(28&23) edged th e Star 4-3 ahead wit a 2-0 win over Kevin O'neill and man of the match Paul Porter (20&20) wrapped up the points with a 2-0 win over Eddie Robb.

ANDY KEARNEY PAIRS.

This took place over the last two weeks in th eO'Donnells club and in the semi finals Tony Corr and Martin Mooney beat Seamy Roberts and Gerard Holmes 3-2, and in the other semi Peter McDonnell Snr and Jnr beat Tommy Henry  and Ben Lagan 3-2.

The final saw Tony Corr and Martin Mooney race into a 3-0 lead agaist their teammates from 58, only for the McDonnells father and son pairing to claw it back to 3-3 and in the last leg Tony and Martin just edged it to keep up their grest record in the competition.

On behalf of the league committee I would like to apologise for not giving a bigger coverage this competition due to unseen circumstances.

This week sees the Sparrow McLaughlin cup take place in the Hibs rooms and would like to make all reams aware to be there for 8.30.

ANDY KEARNEY PAIRS COMPETITION.

CONGRATULATIONS TO TONY CORR & MARTIN MOONEY ON WINNING THE ANDY KEARNEY PAIRS COMPETITION WHICH WAS HELD IN THE O'DONNELLS CLUBROOMS. THEY DEFEATED CLUBMATES PETER MCDONNELL SNR & PETER MCDONNELL JNR IN A VERY WELL CONTESTED FINAL BY 4 LEGS TO 3, COMMERSERATIONS TO PETER SNR AND JNR, AFTER BEING 3 0 DOWN , THEY FOUGHT BACK WELL TO BRING THE MATCH TO THE DECIDING LEG, BUT NOT TO BE AS TONY AND MARTIN HELD ON TO WIN THEY TROPHY THEY LAST WON TOGETHER IN THE 2015-2016 SEASON. WELL DONE.

CLONARD HIBS EDGE OUT ST MATTHEWS.

I would like to start this week’s report by apologising to big Davy McCusker who checked out with a

152 in his 18 & 19 darter last week for Hibs 58 which is th e highest checkout so far this season.


ST MATTHEWS 3 CLONARD HIBS 5

Conor Hanna got Clonard off with a man of t he match (18&20) sho wing against Billy McDade and

Kevin Campbell soon made it 2 - 0 beating Gerard McGuinness 2 - 0. Jimmy Lavery (25&21) beat Sean

Paul Grant 2 - 1to pull one back but John Doyle beat Joe O Kane 2 - 1 to make it 3 - 1 to the away team.

Con Kielty (27&25 )) beat Dan Dela ney 2 - 0 to make it 3 2 but it was soon 4 - 2 to Clonard thanks to

Pearce Maguire who beat an unlucky Jap McKinley 2 - 1 thanks to a cracking 15 darter in the third leg.

Adam Mc Dade (21 & 19) wrapped up the points for Clonard beating John Considine 2 - 1 and Mar tin

Irwin beat Conor Toner 2 - 1 to leave the score at 5 - 3.


HIBS 58 8 FORRESTERS O

58 kept up their100% record beating an unlucky Forrester’s 8 - 0 starting with Peter McDonnell snr

( 22&26) winning 2 - 0 against Sean McCurdy followed by a 2 - 1 win for Damien Corb ett (28&24) over

Cao imhin Burns. It was then 3 - 0 when Tucker Clarke (28&24) beat Martin Stafford and Mark Lynch

(21&21) winning 2 - 1 against Andy Gray to make it 4 - 0.Sean Patterson (20&21) beat K evin Robinson

2 - 0 to make it five and man of the match Martin Mooney(20&20) beat Paul Stafford to make it 6 - 0

It was soon 4 - 2 when Gerard Smith beat Gerry McIlduff 2 - 0 but Casey’s claimed the points winning

the last two thanks to Steven Leckey (27&27) beating Stephen Curley 2 - 0 and Dan Cahoon(24&27)

beating Rab Lyttle by the same score.

The Star had a big win away to Casement but it was Paul Condon winning 2 - 0 over Fra Glennon who

with a2 - 0 win ov er Ciaran McKay and Peter Fitzpatrick ( 28&21) made it 4 - 2 with a 2 - 1 win over Joe

Doone. Gerry McCormick ( 20) pulled one back for the home side beating Freddie Stilgees 2 - 0 only

DC STUN CASEMENT AS HIBS 58 CONTINUE UNBEATEN.

The DC threw great darts at home to Casement starting with a man of the match performance from
