DC STUN CASEMENT AS HIBS 58 CONTINUE UNBEATEN.


Donegal Celtic 5 Casement 3.

The DC threw great darts at home to Casement starting with a man of the match performance from

Patrick MvGeown (22&23) winning 2 - 1 against Gerry McCormick(21),Matt Doone (26&29) made it 2 -

0 with a 2 - 0 win over Michael Tierney and soon it was 3 when Gary Smith also won 2 - 0 against Henry

McCann.Kieran McGuinness pulled one back beating Joe Corr to make it 3 - 1 but the DC hit straight

back thanks to Co lm McGuinness winning 2 - 0 against Joe Doone and Kevin O Carroll (20) won the

points with a 2 - 0 win over Ciaran McKay,Paul Condon beat Harry Smith2 - 1 and Vinty Lenzi (21&25)

won 2 - 0 against Paddy McGuinness to make it a 5 - 3 scoreline.


Crumlin Star 1 Hibs 58 7.

Hibs 58 stormed past the Star to continue their unbeaten run starting with a 2 - 0 win for Mark Lynch

over Tommy Henry followed by the man of the match Peter McDonnell snr (15&21) beating Ben

Lagan.Soon it was 3 - 0 when Martin Mooney (18&21) beat Freddie St ilgees 2 - 0 and then Davy

McCusker beat Dougie Bowes 2 - 1 to make it 4 - 0. Seamy Martin stopped the rot beating Sean

Patterson 2 - 1 but that was as good as it got as Hibs 58 won the last three games thanks to Damien

Corbett beating Robert Creen 2 - 0 followed b y Tucker Clarke also winning 2 - 0 against Peter

Fitzpatrick and finally Martin Corbett (21&24) beating Paul Porter 2 - 0.


Clonard Hibs 6 Star Celtic 2.

Clonard raced into a 4 - 0 lead thanks to Kevin Campbell beating Paddy McAleese 2 - 0 followed by a 2 -

1 win for Pearce Maguire over Henry McTasney snr and then John Doyle won 2 - 1 against Jimmy

Fitzpatrick soon followed by a similar win for Sean Paul Grant over Aaron McGovern.It was then up

to Stephen Curleyt to pull one back for the Star beating John McGrath 2 - 1 and making the score 4 -

1,Adam McDade(25&21) made sure of the points beating Gerard Smith and Anto Smith beat Henry

McTasney jnr 2 - 0 to make it 6 - 1 .The last game saw Gerard Burns produce the man of the match

performance beating Connor Hanna 2 - 0 with a brace o f 20 darters to make it 6 - 2.


Forresters 3 St Matthews 5.

Billy McDade (27&25) beat Michael Bur ns 2 - 0 and Con Kielty beat Caomhin Burns 2 - 0 to put St

Matthews 2 - 0 up only for Oliver McMahon(20&29) to produce a man of the match performance to

beat Joe O Kane 2 - 0 and pull a leg back.Jimmy Lavery beat Martin Stafford 2 - 1 and Martin

Irwin(28&26) beat Sean Fitzpatrick (29) 2 - 1and then John Considine made sure of the points beating

Andy Gray 2 - 0 The Forresters won the last two legs thanks to Sean McCurdy beating Jap McKinley 2 -

1 and Paul Stafford (25&26) beating Gerard McGuinness 2 - 0.


Caseys 4 O Donnells 4.

The O Ds raced into a 3 - 0 lead thanks to Brendan McStravick(27&26) beating Stevie Leckey 2 - 1

followed by a2 - 0 win for Eddie Robb over Eugene Brannigan and then Pau l Press (23&24) beating

Matt Boyle 2 - 0.Dan Cahoon beat Tom Kearney 2 - 0 and Seamy Roberts beat James McStravick 2 - 0 to

get Caseys back to 3 - 2 but Tucker Kearney won 2 - 1 against Brian Kerr to make sure of a point for the

away team and that’s what they got as Caseys won the last two legs thanks to a 2 - 1 win for Kevin

Mallon(24&28) over Kevin O Neill (23) and a man of the match performance from Gerard

Holmes(24720) including the big 180 beating Ricky Saddler(25) 2 - 1 to take a share of the spoils

HIBS 58 WIN O'DONNELLS CUP

SEMI - FINAL 1.  HIBS 58 5 V 3 CLONARD HIBS.

This was a great game the whole way through with both teams throwing some terrific darts .Martin

Mooney(28) put Hibs 58 1 - 0 up hitting the 180 along the way against John McCann.It was soon 2 - 0

when Mark Lynch (24)(100,140,140 95) beat Kevin Campbell(95,100 ,140).Tony Corr put 58 3 - 0 uo

beating John Doyle but back came Clonard thanks to John McGrath beating Peter McDonnell jnr and

Adam McDade(140,99,90,81 &94) beating Damien Corbett 3 - 2 game on.Peter McDonnell snr made

it 4 - 2 beating Pearce Maguire.The next game was the game of the night with man of the match

Connor Hanna(23)121,139,140,&138 beating an unlucky Martin Corbett(180,100,140 &105 ) and

now its 4 - 3.Sean Patterson(98,140,81&99)stepped up to win the match against Dan Sloan to send 58

through to the f inal

SEMI - FINAL 2.  ST MATTHEWS 3 V 5 CASEMENT.

Another great game with Casement edging past St Matthews . Paul Condon 100 95 140 put Casement

1 - 0 up beating Jap McKinley and soon it was 2 - 0 with Michael Tierney beating Micky McCartan.Next

up Martin Irwin(28)100 100 &140 with a man of the match performance against Kieran McGuinness

(100,81,100)to make it 2 - 1.and soon the match was level thanks to Gerard McGuinness beating an

unlucky Sean Kerr.Vinty Lenzi(120 85 81) put Casement ahead beating Billy McDade(100 81 85 )and

its 3 - 2 . Next up saw Joe O Kane (29)137 140 100 beat Henry McCann(85 81 100) and now its 3 - 3 That

was as good as it got for St Matthews as Ciaran McKay(33) beat Jimmy Lavery and Joe Doone (81 100

100 beat John Considine (123 100 ) to send Casement in to the final

FINAL.  HIBS 58 5 V 0 CASEMENT.

The final turned out to be a one sided affair with Hibs 58 winning 5 - 0 thanks to a man of the match

start from Peter McDonnell snr (27)95 95 96 &134 against Vinty Lenzi 100 100 followed by Damien

Corbett 121 100 95 &97 beating Kieran McGuinness making it 2 - 0 .The next game saw Peter

McDonnell jnr 121 100 &140 edge out Gerry McCormick 100 100 100 &96 to make it 3 - 0 and soon it

was 4 - 0 when Sean Patterson(31)83 121 99 beat Sean Kerr and Mark Lynch 95 100 160 wrapped

th ings up for 58 beating Joe Doone and win the cup for Hibs 58

Congratulations to Hibs 58 and commiserations to the other three teams on the night and a big

thank you to T he O D onnells club for their sponsorship and the use of their rooms.Its back to league

CONGRATULATIONS TO CAPTAIN TONY CORR AND A DELIGHTED HIBS 58 SIDE ON WINNING THE O'DONNELLS CUP. THEY DEFEATED CASEMENT 5 0 IN THE FINAL.  THIS MAKES IT 3 YEARS IN A ROW THAT THEY HAVE TRIUMPHED IN THS COMPETITION. WELL DONE.

THE O'DONNELLS CUP

This week saw the qualifiers for the O'Donnells cup and there were some great games.

PRELIMINARY MATCH 1 DONEGAL CELTIC 4 HIBS 58 5

Peter McDonnell Snr got 58 off to a good start beating Patrick McGeown only for the DC to reel off

the next three games to go 3 - 1 up thanks to Matt Doone,Harry Smyth and Alan Hanna beating

Tucker Clarke,Damien Corbett and Martin Corbett. Back came 58 thanks to a man of the match

performance from Tony Corr (27)over Felix McGeown and then Davy McCusker beat Sean Armstrong

to level things up at 3 - 3. Kevin O'Carroll edged DC ahead beating Sean Patterson only for Martin

Mooney to beat Gary Smyth to send it to the last game which saw Mark Lynch defeat David Smyth

and send 58 through 5 - 4 great game!

PRELIMINARY MATC H 2 O'DONNELLS 5 CASEYS 4

Another game to go all the way.O'Ds went 1 - 0 up with Paul Press beating Stevie Leckey but it was

soon 1 - 1 thanks to Seamy Roberts win over Tucker Kearney.Ricky Saddler (29 &20 fin) beat Orcan

Kearney to put the host club 2 - 1 up but it was level again when Dan Cahoon beat Kevin O'Neill.

O'Donnells went 3 - 2 up with Martin Lawlor beating Eugene Brannigan only for Matt Boyle to make it 3 -

3 beating Tom Kearney . The next game saw man of the match Kevin Mallon (29&40fin) beat John

Quinn to put Caseys ahead for the first time only for Eddie Robb to make it 4 - 4 beating an unlucky

Brian Kerr. The last game saw Brendan McStravick play Gerard Holmes and it was Holmes big scoring

including 180 who went ahead but then he faltered at his double to let McStravick in and win the

game for O'Donnells

Q/F BOARD 1 CASEMENT 5 STAR CELTC 0

This turned out to be a one sided game thanks to Michael Tierney beating Steven Curley and soon it

was 2 - 0 thanks to Gerry McCormicks win over Henry McTasney jnr.Paul Condon then beat Gerard

Burns to make it 3 - 0 and this was followed by a man of the match performance from Joe Doone (26

&50 finish) over Paddy McAleese.Henry McCann wrapped things up beating Aaron McGovern .

Q/F BOARD 2 O'DONNELLS 4 ST MATTHEWS 5

Another match that went the whole way with Billy McDade (31) beating Martin Lawlor to put St

Matts 1 - 0 up but O'Ds were soon level when Paul Press beat an unlucky Joe O'Kane. St Matts went 3 -

1up with Jap McKinley beating Eddie Robb and Micky McCartan beating Tom Ke arney. The next

game saw man of the match Ricky Saddler (30&56 fin) beat Martin Irwin to make it 3 - 2 and soon

Kevin O Neill levelled matters beating Jim Lavery ,St Matts edged ahead again with Con Kielty

beating Tucker Kearney only for John Quinn to beat t he hapless Joe McAttamney and make it 4 - 4 .So

its down to the final game and its Brendan McStravick against John Considine and it was the St

Matthews man who threw the better darts taking out a great 94 finish to win the match

Q/F BOARD 3 CLONARD HIBS 5 CR UMLIN STAR 4

Yet another match to go all the way .Clonard went 1 - 0 up with Sean Paul Grant beating Freddie

Stilgees only for Paul Porter(30) to make it 1 - 1 with a win over Dan Delaney. A man of the match

showing from Adam McDade with a great 24 darter whic h included a 180 against Tommy Henry

made it 2 - 1 and it was soon 3 - 1 when John McCann beat Robert Creen.The Star were back in it

thanks to Dougie Bowes win over John Doyle and Ben Lagan beating Pearce Maguire to make it 3 -

3.The Star went ahead for the firs t time when Peter Fitzpatrick beat Anto Smyth only for Conor ​

Toner to make it 4 - 4 with a win over Seamy Martin.The last game saw Kevin Campbell beat Fra

Glennon to send Clonard through to the semi finals

Q/F BOARD 4 HIBS 58 5 FORRESTERS 0

Another one sided match started of with Martin Corbett beating Michael Burns to make it 1 - 0.This

was followed by a super 20 darter from man of the match Tucker Clarke over Andy Gray and it wax

soon 3 - 0 thanks to Peter McDonnell snr beating Oliver McMahon.Up stepped Mark Ly nch to make it

4 - 0 beating Sean Fitzpatrick and the match was over when Martin Mooney beat Kevin Robinson to

make it 5 - 0

Next week it will be the semi finals and the final of the O Donnells Cup 9pm start

FORESTERS STUN CRUMLIN STAR

In a week of upsets Forresters win away to Crumlin Star and Caseys beat local rivals Casement

CRUMLIN STAR 3 FORRESTERS 5

Forresters claimed their first win of the season thanks to a great win away to high flying Crumlin

Star.It all started with a man of the match performance from Oliver McMahon (19&27)beating

Seamy Martin 2 - 0.and soon it was 2 - 0 in the match as Andy Gray beat Fra Gl ennon by the same

scoreline.The Star levelled the match thanks to Ben Lagan (21) and Peter Fitzpatrick (22) taking care

of Michael and Caoimhim Burns both with 2 - 0 wins, In the next game Paul Stafford (20) beat Dougie

Bowes 2 - 1 to edge his team ahead 3 - 2 bu t it was soon 3 - 3 when Robert Creen beat Ray Lavery 2 - 0 to

level it up .The next game saw Kevin Robinson (23&28) beating ex Forrestefr Freddie Stilgees 2 - 0 and

Sean McCurdy wrapped up the points beating Paul Porter 2 - 1 to the delight of the away team

CASEM ENT 2 CASEYS 6

In another shock in the local derby Caseys upset Casement with some great darts.Caeys went 2 - 0 up

thanks to Brian Kerr beating Martin Lavery 2 - 1 and Matt Boyle (22&26) beating an in form Paul

Condon 2 - 0.Gerry McCormick pulled one back beatin g Butch Mallon 2 - 0 but soon it was 3 - 1 with Dan

Cahoon beat Henry McCann 2 - 1.. Casement were back in at 3 - 2 when Ciaran McKay beat his rival

Eugene Brannigan 2 - 0 but that was as good as it got because Caseys raced away with the last three

games thanks to Stephen Leckey (27&21)winning 2 - 0 over Joe Doone .Gerard Holmes 2 - 0 (26&25)

over Kieran McGuinness and man of the match Seamy Roberts with abrace of 20 darters against

Vinty Lenzi who hit the big 180

St Matthews raced into a 4 - 0 lead thanks to Joe O Kane (24&27) 2 - 0 over Paddy McA leese followed

over Eamon McGovern and Jap McKinley (26728)winning 2 - 1 against Tony Kelly.Star pulled one back

Conor Hannah (25&26) beat Eddie Robb(26) 2 - 1 to put the away team 1 - 0 up but the O Ds won the

next two thanks to Brendan McStravick 2 - 1 win over John Doyle (22) and Ricky Saddle r with the

same result over JohnMcCann (20) but up stepped man of the match AdamMcD ade (20&25)to beat

Tom Kearney and make it 2 - 2 ,Clonard raced away with the match winning the next four games

thanks to Pearce Maguire (26&27) 2 - 1 aginst Kevin O Neill (27) then Kevin Campbell(26&26) 2 - 0

over John Quinn followed by a 2 - 1 win for Sean Paul Grant over Paul Press(20) and finally Conor

HIBS 58 WIN TIGHT CLASH WITH CASEYS

HIBS 56 5 CASEYS 3

This was a great match the whole way through with Hibs going 2 - 0 up thanks to Sean Patterson 2 - 0

(29&20) over Steven Leckey and Tony Corr also with a2 - 0 win (27&25) over Gerard Holmes.Matt

Boyle soon made it 2 - 1 with a 2 - 0 win (23 &28) ) over Peter McDonnell jnr.It was soon 3 - 1 thanks to

another 2 - 0 win for Mark Lynch(26&21)against Olcan Kearney. Back came Caseys with a man of the

match performance from Dan Cahoon(16&21)to beat Martin Mooney and it was soon 3 - 3 when

Seamy Roberts beat Davy McCusker in 23&26 darts.Hibs proved the stronger with another brace of

2 - 0 scorelines coming from Martin Corbe tt(21&23) over Eugene Brannigan and Peter McDonnell

snr(24&23)against Brian Kerr

Kevin Campbell got Hibs of to a great start with a man of the match performance (21&18) in a 2 - 1

win over Ciaran McKay.It was soon 1 - 1 thanks a 2 - 0 win for Henry McCann against Anto

Smith,.Pearse Maguire beat Pat Burns 2 - 1 to edge Hibs ahead Soon it was 3 - 1 with a 2 - 0 win for

Connor Hanna which included a great 17 darter against Gerry McCormick and it was then 4 - 1 when

John Doyle(22&21) beat Mickey Ti erney2 - 0 .Back came Casement with Paul Condon beatimg

JohnMcCann 2 - 0. .Hibs went on to claim the match with Seamus Grant (24&24)in a 2 - 0 win over

win for Paddy McAleese over Ray Lavery and then Gerard Smith beat G erard Callaghan 2 - 1and Tony

Kelly beating Michael Burns .The Forresters made it 4 - 2 with aman of the match performance from

Paul Stafford (30 & 22) over Eamonn McGovern .Henry McTasney made sure of the points with a 2 - 0

win over Caoihim Burns and in the la st game Sean Mc Curdy won 2 - 0 against Paul Fitzpatrick

The home side went 1 - 0 up thanks a 2 - 0 win for Paul Press (21 & 24 ) over Jim Lavery but St

Matthews reeled off the next four games with 2 - 0 wins for Con Kielty (25&19),John Considine,Joe O

PRELIMINARY MATCH

Donegal Celtic raced into a 3 - 0 lead thanks to thanks to Paddy McGuinness , Joe Corr and Gary Smith

beating Eddie Robb,Brendan McStravick and John Quinn but O Donnells soon made it 3 - 2 thanks to

Tucker Kearney beating Harry Smith and Jim Lynch winning against Matt Doone.Up next stepp ed

Alan Hanna with a man of the match performance (29) which included a 180 to make it 4 - 2 against

Kevin O Neill.The O Donnells dug deep and pulled it back to 4=4 thanks to Ricky Saddler beating

Colm McGuinness and Tom Kearney beating Kevin O Carroll .Now it was down to the last game and

Patrick McGeown proved too strong for Martin Lawlor 5 - 4 DC

SEMI - FINAL 1

CASEYS 2 STAR CELTIC 5

Hen ry McTasney snr put Celltic 1 - 0 up beating Gerry McIlduff but soon it was 1=1 thanks to Gerard

Holmes beating Eamonn McGovern .Rab Lyttle made it 2 - 1 C eltic with a win over Peter Leckey and

again the match was level thanks to Matt Boyle beating Gerard Bur ns.That was as good as it got for

Caseys as Celtic raced away to win 5 - 2 thanks to Paul Fitzpatrick followed by man of the match Hugh

Grieve (30) and the winning match darts were thrown by Paddy McAleese all winning against Seamy

Roberts ,Orcan Kearney and Eugene Brannigan respectively.

In the first game Harry Smith put in a man of the match (30) against Ray Lavery to put the DC 1 - 0 up

and soon it was 2 - 0 thanks to Kevin O Carroll winning against Michael Burns . Ver y quickly it was 3 - 0

as Colm McGuinness beat Paul Stafford.The Foresters got back in the game when Oliver McMahon

beat Matt Doone but that was as good as it got with the DC winning the next two games thanks to

Gary Smith beating Kevin Robinson and Joe Corr clinching the game against Sean McCurdy

THE FINAL

DONEGAL CELTIC 2 STAR CELTIC 5

So it was a battle of the Celtics and it was the Star who went 2 - 0 up thanks to Paul Fitzpatrick

beating Matt Doone and Paddy McAleese beating Joe Corr . In the third game Pa trick McGeown put

in a man of the match performance against Rab Lyttle to make it 2 - 1 but Aaron McGovern soon

made it 3 - 1 with a win over Kevin O Carroll . The DC dug in and Paddy McGuinness made it 3 - 2

beating Henry McTasney snr.Hugh Grieve then stepped up to beat the unlucky Alan Hanna and the

Star were in touching distance of winning the cup .The next game proved to be the last with both

players Colm McGuinness and Henry McTasney jnr showing a bit of nerves on the finishing but it was

a jubilant McTasne y who hit the winning double and send the Star players wild in celebration.

HIBS 58 WIN JOHN PATTERSON CUP

PRELIMINARY MATCH

CASEMENT 1 CLONARD HIBS 5

The score line is a bit harsh but its doubles that count. There were some close games but Clonard

raced into a 4 - 0 lead starting with a man of the match performance from Adam McDade (28) over

Henry McCann followed by Connor Toner beating Sean Kerr. Next up Kevin Campbell overcame

Ciaran McKay and John McCann beat Vinty Lenzi. Casement showed some resistance with Gerry

McCormick beating Anto Smith, but it was in vain as Pe arce Maguire beat Pat Burns to send Clonard

through to the semis

SEMI FINAL 1

HIBS 58 5 ST MATTHEWS 3

This was a tight game and Tony Corr (29) got 58 of to 1 - 0 lead beating Mick McCartan but it was

soon 1 - 1 when Martin Irwin beat Peter McDonnell jnr.Mark Lynch then threw a great man of the

match 27 darter against John Considine to m ake it 2 - 1 to 58.In the next game Joe McAttamney

levelled the game beating Damien Corbett.Hibs 58 took the next two to go 4 - 2 up thanks to Davy

McCusker beating Billy McDade and Peter McDonnell (30) beating Con Kielty.St Matthews were not

done yet as Joe O Kane beat Paddy Dempsey to make it 4 - 3 but fittingly Sean Patterson won the

match in his father’s cup beating Jimmy Lavery.

SEMI FINAL 2

CLONARD HIBS 4 CRUMLIN STAR 5

This one went all the way with never more than one in it. Kevin Campbell beat Fra Glen non 1 - 0 Hibs

Up stepped Seamy Martin to beat John Doyle 1 - 1. Hibs went 2 - 1 up with Pearce Maguire beating

Paul Porter but the Star drew level thanks to a man of the match performance from Ben Lagan (28)

over Dan Delaney. The Star went in front thanks to Pe ter Fitzpatrick beating Anto Smith to make it 3 -

2, It was soon 3 - 3 when Adam McDade beat Tommy Henry but then the Star edged ahead 4 - 3 thanks

to Dougie Bowes beating John McCann only for Connor Hanna to step up to beat Robert Creen and

send it to the last match. The last two players were Connor Toner and Freddie Stilgees and it was

Freddie who hit the winning do uble to send the Star through to the final.

FINAL

HIBS 58 5 CRUMLIN STAR 4

The Hibs rooms were packed for the final and the two teams did not disapp oint as this match went

the whole way. The Star went 2 - 0 up thanks to Dougie Bowes(31)beating Sean Patterson and Paul

Porter beating Tony Corr in 28 darts .It then went 2 - 1 when Damien Corbett beat Robert Creen and

then Davy McCusker levelled the game with a man of the match performance beating Tommy Henry

in 26 darts .Seamy Martin put the Star 3 - 2 up with a win over Peter McDonnel only for Mark Lynch to

level it again beating Freddie Stilgees3 - 3The next game saw 58 edge ahead 4 - 3 thanks to Peter Mc

Donnell snr beating Peter Fitzpatrick. Not to be outdone Ben Lagan beat Paddy Dempsey to send it

into the final game the final pair were Martin Corbett and Fra Glennon and it was to be Corbett that

stepped up with a steady 30 darter to win the cup for Hibs 58

I w ould like to give the Patterson family a special mention for the great spread they put on in honour

of John and thank the Hibs club for their sponsorship and facilities, PAT MC GAHAN

IT IS WITH DEEP REGRET THAT THE CHAIRMAN AND THE CENTRAL LEAGUE COMMITTEE LEARN OF THE DEATH OF DENIS KELLY. DENIS WAS FIRSTLY A GENTLEMAN AND ALSO A LONG TIME STALWART AND MEMBER OF THE CENTRAL LEAGUE. DENIS WAS A PROMIENENT PLAYER, FIRSTLY ON THE VERY SUCCESSFUL PETER PAN TEAM AND THEN ON THE DWYERS TEAM, WINNING MANY COMPETITIONS, NAMELY THE 3 A SIDES AND THE 5 A SIDES ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION. DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS ENTIRE FAMILY CIRCLE, MARY QUEEN OF IRELAND PRAY FOR HIM. DENIS'S FUNERAL WILL TAKE PLACE THIS COMMING WEDNESDAY AFTER 1 O'CLOCK MASS IN ST.PAULS.
