IT IS WITH DEEP REGRET THAT THE COMMITTEE LEARN OF THE DEATH OF MICHAEL JOHNSTON.  MICHAEL STARTED PLAYING DARTS IN THE CENTRAL LEAGUE AT A VERY YOUNG AGE, HE WAS A PROMINENT MEMBER ALONGSIDE HIS OLDER BROTHERS JIM AND CHARLIE IN THE SUCCESSFUL FELONS TEAM IN THE 1970'S & 80'S. HE ALSO PLAYED AND REPRESENTED THE CENTRAL LEAGUE TEAM MANY MANY TIMES.  DEPESTEST SYMPATHY TO HIS ENTIRE FAMILY CIRCLE, MARY QUEEN OF IRELAND PRAY FOR HIM.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE STAR CELTIC TEAM WHO WON THE CURRAN CUP, WHICH WAS HELD IN THE ST. MATTHEWS CLUBROOMS. THEY MASTERED CASEYS 5 2 IN THE SEMI FINAL, AND THEN WENT ON TO BEAT DONEGAL CELTIC, (WHO HAD BEATEN FORESTERS 5 1 IN THE OTHER SEMI FINAL),  BY THE SAME SCORELINE IN THE FINAL, WELL DONE.



CONGRATULATIONS IS ALSO AFFORDED TO THE HIBS 58 TEAM, WHO WON THE JOHN PATTERSON CUP, WHICH WAS HELD IN THE HIBS CLUBROOMS. IN A NIGHT OF CLOSE MATCHES THEY SQUEEZED PAST ST. MATTHEWS BY 5 4 IN THE SEMI FINAL, AND THEN BY THE SAME SCORELINE THEY BEAT CRUMLIN STAR IN THE FINAL, (WHO HAD EARLIER BEATEN CLONARD HIBS BY 5 4 IN THE OTHER SEMI FINAL).

HIBS 58 WIN DERBY MATCH WITH CLONARD HIBS.

Hibs 58 stay unbeaten winning 5 - 3 against second place Clonard Hibs. Unfortunately, I did not

receive a match card for this game. All I can give you are the winners for both teams. The five

winners for Hibs 58 were Peter McDonnell Snr & Jnr, Martin Mooney, Davy Mc Cusker and Sean

Patterson. The three Clonard winners were Adam McDade, Conor Hanna and Kevin Campbell.

In the other games Casement edge past St Matthews, The DC beat Forresters, O'Donells have a good

win away against Star Celtic and Crumlin Star win away to Casey’s.


St Matthews 3 Casement 5.

Casement went into a 3 - 0 lead when Chopper McKay beat an unlucky Billy Mc Dade 2 - 1, followed by

Vinty Lenzy winning 2 - 0 against Con Kielty and Martin Lavery (21 & 27) winning 2 - 0 against Jim

Lavery. Pat McGahan pulled one back beating a very unlucky Gerry McCormick 2 - 1 but soon it was 4 -

1 with a man of the match performance from Paul Condon ( 20 & 17) over Jap McKinley. St Matthews

rallied back to 4 - 3 with 2 - 0 wins for John Considine and Martin Irwin (24 & 21) over Sean Kerr and

Michael Tierney, only for Henry McCann to beat Joe 0'Kane 2 - 0 in 28 & 24 darts to claim the match for

Casement.


DONEGAL CELTIC 6 FORESTERS 2.

Donegal Celtic raced into a 3 - 0 lead thanks to Colm and Paddy McGuinness who hit the big 180J both

winning 2 - 1 against Michael Burns and Oliver McMahon Jnr, and Gary Smith 2 - 0 over C Burns .Then

Paul Stafford made it 3 - 1 with a 2 - 0 win over Junior McManus. It was soon 5 - 1 when Harry Smith

won 2 - 0 over Andy Gray and a 2 - 0 win for Matt Doon over Ray Lavery. Sean Mc Curdy pulled one

back with a 2 - 1 win over Alan Hanna only for Patrick McGeown to put in a man of the match

performance with a brace of 25 darters in a 2 - 1 win over Sean Fitzpatrick who had a neat 20 darter

with an 80 finish.


STAR CELTIC 2 O'DONNELLS 6.

O'Donnells raced into a 5 - 0 lead thanks to Tom Kearney (26) 2 - 0 over Henry McTasney Snr, followed

by a 2 - 1 win for Kevin O 'Neill over HenryMcTasney Jnr. Next it was 2 - 0 win for Ricky Saddler (22 &

27 ) over Gerard Smith and man of the match Paul Press (26 & 22) winning 2 - 0 against Rab Lyttle and

then John Quinn chipped in with a 2 - 0 win over Paddy McAleese. Hugh Grieve made it 5 - 1 beating

Tucker Kearney 2 - 0..Eddie Robb made it 6 - 1 with a 2 - 0 win over Eamon McGovern and Paul

Fitzpatrick won the last game 2 - 0 against Brendan McStravick.


CASEYS 3  CRUMLIN STAR 5.

Caseys went 1 - 0 up thanks to a 2 - 1 win for Stevie Leckey over Paul Porter, but it was soon 1 - 1 with

Seamy Martin firing two twenty - one darters in his 2 - 0 win over Eugene Brannigan. Fra Glennon

made it 2 - 1 with a 2 - 1 win over Liam McMenamin. Back came Casey’s with Brian Kerr winning 2 - 0

over Dougie Bowes. The next game saw a man of the match performance from Matt Boyle (20 & 21)

darts beating Ben Lagan who threw a super 15 darter with an 81 finish, but then the Crumlin Star

pulled out all the stops to win the next three games and claim the points thanks to Peter Fitzpatrick,

Tommy Henry and Robert Creen(23) all winning 2 - 0 against Peter Leckey, Gerard Holmes and Orcan

Kearney respectively.

This week it’s the split cups with the Sean Patterson cup in the Hibs rooms and the Martin Curran

DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS ENTIRE FAMILY CIRCLE, MARY QUEEN OF IRELAND PRAY FOR HIM.

HIBS 58 WIN HENRY MCILHONE CUP

The St Matthews club was packed for the semi finals and final of the Henry McIlhone cup and the

semi final draw seen Hibs 58 take on the Crumlin Star and Clonard Hibs met the Donegal Celtic

SEMI FINAL 1 HIBS 58 V CRUMLIN STAR

This was a great game all the way which ebbed and flowed all the way .The Star went 1 - 0 up with

Dougie Bowes(33) beating Peter McDonnell jnr. Back came Hibs to go 2 - 1 up thanks to Martin

Mooney and man of the match Peter McDonnell Snr (27 & 60 fin) beating Robert Creen and Paul

Porter.It was soon 2 - 2 when Freddie Stilgees beat Damien Corbett but then it soon became 4 - 2 to

Hibs 58 thanks to Mark Lynch (35) and Tony Corr (35)winning against Ben Lagan and Fra

Glennon. Not over yet though as Tommy Henry beats Sean Patterson and its now 4 - 3 .Up stepped

Davy McCusker to win the match against an unlucky Peter Fitzpatrick who had his chances.

RESULT : HIBS 58 5 CRUMLIN STAR 3.


SEMI FINAL 2  CLONARD HIBS V DONEGAL CELTIC

Young Colm McGuinness (26 & 60 fin ) got the DC of to a great start with a man of the match

performance against Sean Paul Grant but Clonard then raced into a 3 - 1 lead thanks to some neat

darts from Conor Hanna, Adam McDade and Pearce Maguire beating Paddy McGuinness, Harry Smith

and Patrick McGeown. Soon the DC made it 3 - 2, thanks to Matt Doone beating Conor Toner but their

joy was not to last long as the Clonard Hibs won the next two games and the match thanks to Dan

Delaney and John Doyle having wins over Gary Smith and Alan Hanna

RESULT CLONARD HIBS 5 DONEGAL CELTIC 2.


THE FINAL

HIBS 58 VS CLONARD HIBS.

Hibs 58 raced into a 3 - 0 lead thanks to Tony Corr (29 & 25 fin) ,Peter McDonnell jnr and Mark Lynch

(30 & 61 fin )which included ten ton plus scores between them beating Kevin Campbell,John Doyle

and Dan Delaney respectively ,Back came Clonard with man of the match Adam McDade (26 & 20

fin) which included hitting 180 beating Damien Corbett and that was quickly followed by a Pearce

Maguire win (30 & 85 fin )who also hit the magical 180 to beat Martin Mooney , So it seemed like

game on at 3 - 2 to Hibs 58.The next game proved to be crucial as John McCann not to be outdone by

his previous two teammates hitting another 180 and outscoring Peter McDonnell Snr, but he was

unable to hit his double and McDonnell stepped in to make it 4 - 2 and in the next game Davy

McCusker stepped up to beat an unlucky Conor Toner and win the match for Hibs 58 to retain the

cup.

HIBS 58 THRASH ST MATTHEWS TO STAY TOP

Hibs 58 beat St Matthews, Donegal Celtic squeeze past Casey’s, Casement have home win over Star

Celtic, O Donnells have an away win at Forrester’s and Crumlin Star and Clonard Hibs fight out a

draw

HIBS 58 7 ST MATTHEWS 1

High expectations of a tight game between two teams in form were over in a flash when Hibs 58

raced into a 7 - 0 lead with some great darts. First up saw Davy McCusker (22&24)beating John

Considine 2 - 0 and it was 2 - 0 in the game when Damien Corbett (25&29) beat Billy McDade(26) 2 -

1.Sean Patterson made it 3 - 0 beating an unlucky Jap McKinley 2 - 0.The next game was the game of

the match with Mark Lynch (21 &19)hitting 180 on the way beating Martin Irwin (17) also hitting a

180 .Peter McDonnell snr soon made it 5 - 0 beating Jimmy Lavery 2 - 0 (26&17 includin g a 171 ) In the

next game Martin Corbett started off with a 180 and beat Con Kielty 2 - 0 (20 &23) Its now 6 - 0 and

Tony Corr soon made it 7 - 0 with a 2 - 1 win over Joe McAttamney. In the last game Pat McGahan

saved the whitewash winning 2 - 1 against Jap Craig.

DONEGAL CELTIC 5 CASEYS 3

The DC got off to a great start thanks to Colm and Paddy McGuinness (25) both winning 2 - 0 against

Eugene Brannigan & Liam McMenamin, Gary Smith made it 3 - 0 with a 2 - 1 win ove r Steven Lecky

Casey’s were back in the game with Dan Cahoon(24 & 76 finish) and Gerard Holmes (2) both

winning 2 - 0 against Tommy McCrory and Kevin O'Carroll .Up stepped Patrick McKeown (25&20) with

a man of the match performance to beat Matt Boyle 2 - 1 to put the home side 4 - 2 up . Casey’s were

not done yet and Olcan Kearney made it 4 - 3 with a 2 - 0 win over Junior McManus In the final game

Matt Doone beat Brian Kerr 2 - 0 to seal the points for the DC

CASEMENT 6 STAR CELTIC 2

Paul Condon got the home team off to a great start with a man of the match performance thanks to

a super 15 darter (140 & 180) and 27 darts against Rab Lyttle. Game two saw Henry McTasney jnr

beat Micky Tierney 2 - 0 to level matters .Casement took the next three games thanks to 2 - 0 wins for

Gerry McCormick,Martin Lavery and Chopper McKay against Steven Curly, Gerard Smith and Henry

McTasney snr respectively and its now 4 - 1 .Gerard Burns won 2 - 0 which included a 20 darter against

Pat Burns and its now 4 - 2.Vinty Lenzi (21&23) secured the points with a 2 - 1 win over Aaron

McGovern and Henry McCann(20) made it 6 - 2 with a 2 - 0 win over Eamon McGovern .

FORRESTERS 2 O DONNELLS 6

In game one Eddie Robb had a 2 - 0 win over Andy Gray but thing s were soon level thanks to Oliver

McMahon(28&24) 2 - 0 win over Martin Lawlor .Games 3&4 saw 2 - 0 wins for Paul Press over Ray

lavery and man of the match Kevin O Neill (21&23) beating Paul Stafford It was soon 3 - 2 thanks to

Caoihmn Burns 2 - 1 win over Tucker Kearney but O'Donnells ran away with the next three games

thanks to Ricky Saddler 2 - 0 win including a seventeen darter with an 86 finish over Michael Burns ,a

2 - 0 win for Brendan McStravick against Sean McCurdy and finally a 2 - 1 win for John Quinn over John

Toner

CRUMLIN STAR 4 CLONARD HIBS 4

Con kielty bt Peter Fitzpatrick 2 - 0(24&27) to make it 1 0 back came the Star through Fra Glennon

with a 2 - 0 win over Pat McGahan. Man of the match Martin Irwin 21 (70f)&22 darts winning 2 - 0

aga inst Dougie Bowes to make it 2 - 1 but soon it was 2 - 2 thanks to Robert Creen beating Billy

McDade 2 - 0 in 22&28 darts .S t Matthews won the next three to take the points thanks to Jimmy

Lavery(29&25) Jap McKinley (29728)and Joe O Kane (24&28) beating Paul Por ter who shot a 24

Burns made it 3 - 2 be ating Gerry McIlduff .The next game saw Orchan Kearney make it 4 - 2 beating C

Burns and then Brian Kerr secured the points with a 2 - 0 win over John Toner and in the last game

CLONARD HIBS A RETAIN PATSY CORR 3 A SIDES.


So it was back to the Donegal Celtic rooms for the last 16 of the Patsy Corr  3 a sides BOARD 1 Caseys B 0 Star Celtic A 2 Hibs 58 C 2 O Donnells C O (Sean Patterson 18 darts and 180) BOARD 2 Clonard Hibs B 0 Hibs 58 B 2 Crumlin Star B 1 Hibs 58 A 2 BOARD 3 St Matthews B 0 Clonard Hibs 2(Dan Delaney 23darts) Crumlin Star C 2 Forresters 1 (Oliver Mc Mahon 24 60F) BOARD 4 Casement A 2 St Matthews C 0 St Matthews E BYE Q/F 1 Hibs 58 A 1 Casement A 2 Q/F2 Hibs 58 B 2 St Matthews E 0 (Martin Corbett 16 darts Mark Lynch 180) Q/F 3 Crumlin Star C 2 Star Celtic A 1 Hibs 58 C 0  Clonard Hibs A 2(Adam Mc Dade 180)   So it came to the semi final draw Crumlin Star C vs Casement A Hibs 58  B vs Clonard Hibs A Semi-final 1 Fra Glennon vs Gerry McCormick Paul Porter/Paul Thompson vs Vinty Lenzi/Martin Lavery Gerry Mc Cormick got Casement of to a flier by winning the singles but not to be out done back came the Star to level at 1-1 even though Lenzi hit them with a 180 .So it went to the triples and Casement made it through to the final Semi-final 2 Davy McCusker vs Connor Hanna Martin Corbett/Mark Lynch vs Adam McDade/Dan Delaney the second semi was more straight forward with Clonard Hibs winning 2-0 thanks to a 21 darter with a super 88 checkout by McDade  and a great 27 darter in the 701 doubles with a 68 checkout. The final saw the following draw Vinty Lenzi vs Adam McDade Gerry Mc Cormick/Martin Lavery vs Connor Hanna/Dan Delaney In the singles both players scored well hitting a couple of ton plus scores but it was McDade who strukck the double first and so it was 1-0 to Clonard Hibs Next came the doubles and Clonard Hibs went on to make it 2-0 With a very hard fought win and it meant they had retained the title which is no mean achievement. So its congratulations to the Clonard Hibs A and commiserations to Casement A .We would like to thank the Donegal Celtic for their sponsorship of the Patsy Corr 3 a sides .Its back to the league next week Pat Mc Gahan
