HENRY McILHONE CUP

HIBS 58 WIN MCILHONE CUP

The rooms were packed for the semi finals and final if the Henry Mcilhone cup and the draw paired the host club St Matthews against Hibs 58 and a derby clash between Casement and Caseys

SEMI FINAL 1

ST MATTHEWS 3 HIBS 58 5

Another year of the host team never having won this trophy even though they got off to a great start thanks to Davy McCusker (31) 121/81 100/96 putting them 1 nil up beating Martin Corbett and next up Allan Brown (29) 100/81/85/140 beat Paddy Dempsey to make it 2-0 .Back came 58 thanks to Tucker Clarke (30)123/100/95 beating Billy McDade It was all square when Peter McDonnell jnr (30) threw great darts to beat Martin Irwin 121/100/and a 132 finish Hibs went in front 3-2 when Joe Dineen 100/81/85 beat a very unlucky John Considine but Dessie Magee(28) stepped in with a man of the match performance 100/100/100/123 to beat Sean Patterson to make it 3-3.Once again St Matthews were unlucky when Kyle Dillon scored heavily but couldn't find that double and Damien Corbett stepped up and made it 4-3 to 58 and Peter McDonnell snr 95/95/and 171 beat Jap McKinley who also had chances to send Hibs 58 into the final

SEMI FINAL 2

CASEMENT 2 CASEYS 5

This was a local derby for these two and it showed with both sides showing a bit of tension In the first game Seamy Roberts (35)140/140/100 beat Kieran McGuinness to put Caseys 1 up but it was level at 1-1 when Henry McCann beat Eugene Brannigan It was then 2-1 to Caseys when Gerard Holmes beat Vinty Lenzi and it was 3-1 when Matt Boyle (31) 100/140 85 beat Martin Lawlor. Back came Casement thanks to Gerry McCormick (30) 140/140 beating Stevie Lecky to make it 3-2 but a man of the match performance from Dan Cahoon (28) 140/100/ against Joe Doone made it 4-2 and Kevin Mallon sent the Caseys into the final beating an unlucky Paul Condon

HIBS 58 5 CASEYS 2

Kevin Mallon got the Caseys off to a great start beating Paddy Dempsey but it was soon 1-1 when Sean Patterson (33) 140/100/81 beat Peter Lecky It was then 2-1 when Tucker Clarke (37) beat Matt Boyle and then the highlight of the final was the next game when Martin Corbett threw a man of the match performance (27) with scores of 81/140/80/100 and a cracking 130 bull finish against Seamy Roberts to make it 3-1Mark Lynch (32)81/81/140 then beat Eugene Brannigan to make it 4-1 but Caseys got one back thanks to Dan Cahoon(33) 85/140/100 beating Damien Corbett In the next game Peter McDonnell snr (29)121/84/133 saw 58 home with a good win over Paul Smyth to send 58 and their supporters wild
